One good thing a day 2017

Hey guys, So last year I decided to take part in a challenge. Ok, it wasn't really a challenge so to speak, but the act of writing down one good thing a day did actually prove quite challenging I discovered. Everyday I picked up my pen, scribbled down something that had made me happy that day, folded it up and put it in a plastic bag (yes, the notes went on many trips in 2017 so they saw the likes of a plastic bag, jar, bowl, purse...you name it.) Anyway, the reason I wanted to do this was to practise a) focusing on The Now and b) to see the beauty in life. I know that sounds super cliché but sometimes we do need to remember how many good things actually happen to us on a daily basis! It is so easy to look back on a day, week or even a month and think, 'that month was absolutely crap. What did I even do??' The truth is you did many things, probably both big and small, but through all the darkness there were times when you still managed to smile. It's true that it's usually the little things that make the biggest impact, and by writing down one good thing a day throughout 2017, I realised that. So much of the time I wrote down that a conversation or seeing a friend or even laughing at TV were what made me bust a grin and make my insides go all fuzzy and all that jazz. Some days it was a big event or celebration, but usually it was the smallest moments that made my day. I think practicing mindfulness is something that is very important, especially if you are a busy individual. I know that sounds counter-productive, but actually the busier you are the less time you often have to just sit and be in a moment or reflect on everything that you've done so far. We need to always take some time to chill out and focus on how far we've come, what achievements we have made and all the great things that have brought us to where we are and, in fact, made us who we are. The past doesn't define you but it certainly has moudled you into the person you are right now. So I would encourage everybody to practice mindfulness, even if it is just a teeny tiny bit! You don't have to write down notes every single day of the year, but every now and again stop, think and be grateful. Here's the video I put up on my YouTube channel as well...
